Newport offers three distinct walking zones. The historic downtown is compact and flat — walkable in under an hour. Bellevue Avenue stretches about two miles with gently rolling terrain and grand mansions lining the route. The Cliff Walk adds a 3.5-mile coastal path, mixing flat paved sections with rougher rocky stretches. Summer (June–August) runs 75–79°F with steady ocean breezes — warm but comfortable. July is peak season, bringing crowds. Fall (September–October) is the sweet spot: 60–73°F, fewer visitors, steady weather. Winter drops to the 30–40°F range with wind and occasional snow.
